21 January

Hello Team Caulfield.

This Saturday sees Week 9 of club competition (Program 7) with warm up at 8:20am. Pack up duty is U8 Girls.  Uniform shop will be open from 8am. Good luck to our athletes competing at the Knox LAC Twilight Open Day later in the afternoon.

State Combined Event

Next weekend we have 40 of our U9 to 16 athletes competing at the Sate Combined Event at Lakeside Stadium. There will be no normal competition at Duncan Mackinnon on Saturday 29 January. We are currently looking to arrange for our younger athletes and those not competing at the state event to attend competition elsewhere. Stay tuned for an update.

Training

Training on Monday and Thursday only this week, with the Australia Day public holiday on Wednesday. Book in using Team App.

Helpers

We are looking for more helpers during our competition days and members to join our committee. We have committee members with children who will be ageing out next year and therefore not continuing in their roles on the committee. We would love to start training people up for these roles for next season. Contact Jason on 0439 347291.

COVID-19

With the significant increase in Covid numbers Team Caulfield will be introducing some further controls to keep our children and volunteers safe while also offering some standard reminders.

1. Please don’t attend Team Caulfield activities if you are unwell or under isolation conditions

2. Use the QR code on arrival to sign in and use the hand sanitiser provided.

3. We will be implementing smaller age group numbers where possible. We will be endeavoring to have groups no larger than 10 children, supported by two parent helpers. We will not be introducing a new program and ask that age groups sequence through their scheduled events.

4. We are requesting parent helpers wear masks when interacting with the children

5. Parents not directly involved in supporting the age groups are to remain behind the track fence and off the competition area.

Reminders

Registrations are still open if you have any friends who would still like to join for the second half of the season.

A reminder that a parent or a guardian must be present at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve during competition and training.

No dogs allowed at the track.

SMR Carnival

The 2022 Regional Track and Field Carnival will take place at Duncan Mackinnon on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February, 2022 (no normal competition that weekend). This is a great opportunity for all our U9 to U16 athletes to compete against other clubs and also attempt to qualify for the State Championships in March.

To be eligible to enter, athletes must:

  • Be a registered (including financial) Little Athletics Victoria Competitive Member.

  • Have participated in a minimum of 1 week of LAVic approved competition by the close of entries (Sunday 30th January 2022).

Entries Close: 30th January 2022 , 11.59pm (midnight).

On Your Mark, Get Set – Season 2021/22 is Fast Approaching

Hello to all of our Team Caufield and prospective members. The winter cross country season has come to an end and we are in full preparation mode for the summer season ahead – which will be hot on the heals of the Olympic Games.

Some key points

  • Cauflield Little Athletics is heading into our 52nd year of providing fun, fitness and participation for children aged 5 to 15.
  • Located at the wonderful Duncan Mackinnon Reserve, Murrumbeena, we are blessed with the best athletics sporting facilities in the region.

Our new season starts soon

Little Athletics is all about fun, fitness, family and at Team Caulfield we add participation. We want to see all of our children having fun, making friends, improving their fitness and foundational skills of running, jumping and throwing. Little Athletics is not about being the fastest or strongest, it is about doing your best and continually improving week on week.

This season training will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights – likely 5:30pm to 6:30pm. A specialised Thursday night training is likely to be offered also for throwing and jumping.
  • Competitions are generally held on a Saturday morning, with a start time of 8:30am and a finish at 11:00am. We do some fun Friday night competitions on long weekends.
